"Well, this isn't something you find everyday. Abe's is something that liberally grabs the best bits
from almost every game you've ever played before, mixes them together and somehow comes up with
something so completely fresh and original that you would almost believe you're witnessing the dawn
of a new game-playing age.
So the story goes that you're a plucky young...thing (a Mudokon, actually) named Abe, and he's just
uncovered plans to turn his entire race into a pile of happy value meals at the local McBurger. This
isn't what Abe had in mind for his future plans, so it's up to him to rescue all of his friends
form their imminent doom. But how can one goofy (not to mention weedy) looking creature do that by
his lonesome do that, you may ask? With the help of his unique psychic powers, that's how. Not only
can Abe communicate "normally" with his voice but he also has a few clever mental tricks up his
proverbial sleeve, including the essential power to possess other characters. Once you're in charge
of the offending creature you will also be able to use their abilities, which in certain circumstances
is crucial to making progress. Each screen has a different puzzle for you to solve, and the most obvious
method is not always the correct one. Sometimes a bit of subtlety is called for, adding a tremendous
amount of scope to the gameplay. There's also the usual platform antics to deal with, and any Flashback
player will get a sense of deja-vu immediately.
If only every game that hits the Hotgames tower could be as good as this...Oddworld deserves to be
prominently placed on your daily list of downloads.
